Why our happy health initiative is important

Did you know stress is a major contributing factor to some of the leading causes of death? Over the years there has been and continues to be a growing concern about the increase in stress-related disorders in the workplace.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Globally, an estimated 12 billion working days are lost every year to depression and anxiety at a cost of US$ 1 trillion per year in lost productivity.

Chronic stress puts your health at a higher risk of health problems such as

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Other mental health conditions

  • Digestive problems

  • Weight gain

  • Insomnia

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • Weaken the immune system

  • Autoimmune conditions

These are just to name a few. But as you can see, our mental health not only impacts us psychologically but also affects us both emotionally and physically.

Prevention is better than treatment

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Our happy health initiative is here to help you stay happier and healthier mentally, physically, and emotionally.

After all, when our mind, body, and spirit are in check we flourish and feel good about life. Not only this, but it can play a significant role in our life expectancy. According to a report, there is a drastically reduced life expectancy for people with mental illness.

A few tips to improve mental well-being

  1. Connect with people and build good relationships.

  2. Be physically active – go for a walk, do yoga, or go for a run.

  3. Learn new skills to keep your brain active, and challenged.

  4. Be kind and giving. By doing so you’ll feel a sense of positivity, joy, and purpose.

  5. Take up a relaxation practice such as meditation, or yoga.

  6. Eat a healthy balanced nutritious diet.

  7. Get plenty of sleep.

  8. Get help by talking to someone.

  9. Give your mind and body the support they need through holistic healthcare.

  10. Find a sense of purpose by engaging in a daily activity that means something to you and brings you joy.
